IN THE
BEGINNING...
CHAPTER 1 - Verse 1
Steven Nicolet, Gary Bonn, Peter Tadros, Paul Landry,
Kevin Haranczak and Al Bonn, created The PYX. Football picking was
without form and void. And Kevin said, "Let there be PICKS."
And Gary divided the picks into right and wrong. Peter divided the
right picks by the total and called it the picking percentage. And
Paul & Al saw that it was good. Then Steven brought a woman into
the Picking garden and saw that she was good, too.
New Revised Translation
In the beginning, Steven, Gary, Peter, Paul and Kevin were gathered
together on that first day of PYX Creation in the living room of the
home of Dr. Samir Ishak in Grandville, Michigan, September of 1995.
Steven Nicolet had created other
football pools while attending High School in Hamilton, MI. It was
the first day of the NFL season and none of the games had started when
the idea first began to blossom. The Grand Rapids Press was on the
table and one by one, each football game was written on a piece of
paper. Each of the five Grand Valley State University friends took
turns predicting the outcome of all of the NFL games. A simple
initial was placed by the teams, representing the Founding Fathers of
the Picks.
It was Gary who suggested that they
do it again the following week. He even suggested that they
compete throughout the entire season. Al Bonn liked the idea and
wanted in on the action as well. Al Joined in week 2 on the second
day of PYX creation.
Gary kept track of all of the games
and created a notebook that stored all of the data. This Holy book
and the scriptures within is called "THE BOOKS". It was
Kevin Haranczak who called these football game predictions, "Picks".
And so it was there, in Peter's home in Grandville, that the "PYX" were
created.
"Behold", sayeth Paul, "Let there be
chips and salsa." And they were brought forth.
"Verily, verily I say unto ye, let there be beer so that we may eat,
drink and be merry, "uttered
Al.
And all of the Pickers from that day
on, honored the 7th day by resting and watching football.
