Fellow Pickers:
The Divisional round has concluded and we
are all set for the Championship Games. Unfortunately, my
prediction of Hamilton going down didn't quite hold up. We
are now facing a possibility of seeing an all Hamilton PYX Bowl;
the last time this occurred was in PYX Bowl III (2002) when
Brent Van Wieren went up against Steven Nicolet.
Let’s take a closer look at this week's divisional battles:
APC
Ryan Thome vs. Nate Lucas
A close battle, but can Nate really be
stopped this year? They had one pick different, which was a
game that wasn’t even close. Nate moves on, Ryan closes an
overall impressive season!
Brent VanWeiren vs. Gary Bonn
These two bitter rivals left it all on the
picking field! They agreed on all four games, just showing
their mutual brilliance. This left it to the confidence
points. Brent was dominating these early on, causing Gary to
have to make a big comeback in the final game, San Diego and the
NY Jets. Brent put up a stubborn defense, and Gary just
couldn’t score! End of the story, Brent moves on, and Gary
takes the off season to contemplate life! Meanwhile, Hamilton
lives!

Peter Tadros vs. Joel Dalman
Joel Dalman (sigh) also keeps the
Hamiltonian dream alive. He edged out the legendary Pharoah
himself, Peter Tadros. Joel goes on to play for the right to go
to the coveted PYX Bowl. Is he doing this in the name of his
wife, trying to keep the trophy in the family?
Trevor Maus vs. Josh Sova
These two Freshmen titans had a colossal
matchup! They had two games different, which they split. This
brought it to confidence points. Trev took the early lead,
making the San Diego NY Jets matchup huge.

The Conference Championship games and
predictions:
APC
Brent Van Wieren
vs. Nate Lucas
Van
Wieren gets the edge in play-off experience.
He was in PYX Bowl in 2002, 2006 and 2007. He
was the winner of PYX Bowl VIII. Nate Lucas
has a little experience, but let's not forget PYX
Bowl V in 2004 when Nate came so close to becoming
the World Picking Champion.
Brent has
the experience that you can count on to bring home a
PYX Bowl! He’s the Brett Favre of the PYX! Nate
brings a hot hand and longevity in his own right!
When in doubt, ya gotta go with the home team! Look
for Nate to score quick and move on to the PYX Bowl!

Trevor Maus
vs. Joel Dalman
You would
think these two know one another… Being that they
are from the same division. Ironically, they never
met this season! They were head to head all season,
with Joel coming from behind to win the division.
Keep in mind that no expansion team has ever won the
PYX Bowl...This is Trevor’s chance for a reach
around! Watch for Trev to put up a strong fight and
walk away with a win!
