year's PYX Bowl is by far the most intriguing, and the matchup
with the most parity in the history of the PYX. We could go on
and on about how this is the first time a woman has achieved the
PYX Bowl, and how the only two women in the PYX managed to both
make it in this season. To only focus on this aspect of the PYX
Bowl would lean towards sexism, and we'd be missing out on one
of the greatest matchups in PYX Bowl history... So let's put
gender on the back burner! These two are outstanding pickers,
no matter what genitals they have. Never
before has there been such a close match up. Let's go inside
the numbers:
COMMON OPPONENTS
Rachelle and Linda did not go head to head
this season. But, they did have three mutual opponents this
year. They both played Rene' Garza, and they both lost. They
both played Thomas Van Dyke, Linda beat him, Rachelle lost to
him. They both played Dennis Harmor. Rachelle beat him, Linda
lost to him.
In the end, this scenario is a push.
COMBINED RECORDS OF
OPPONENTS TO SHOW STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
If you look at the combined records of
Linda's opponents, head to head they accumulated 124 wins,
making a .492 winning percentage. If you look at the cumulative
head to head total of Rachelle's opponents, they have a total of
125 wins, with a .494 winning percentage.
This too, for the most part, is a push.
NOTE: WOW... Could these two be
anymore closely matched. To predict a winner, let's take a look
at a couple of "x" variables.
OVERTIME PERFORMANCE
THIS YEAR
There are high odds that the PYX Bowl will
come down to overtime. Linda has much less experience in OT
this year. The only time she went to overtime was in week 11
against Steven Nicolet. She lost this matchup. Rachelle had
three contests that came down to OT this year, and she won them
all.

FACTOR
Rachelle was named picker of the week on 4
occasions this year. Linda received the honor 3 times. It's a
slight advantage, but Rachelle has demonstrated her overall
dominance in the picking community by winning this award more
often.

FINAL PREDICTION
In summary, I have to give the advantage to
Rachelle to defeat Linda to win PYX Bowl X. Its
going to be close, and likely will come down to OT. PYX History
is in the making, and look for Rachelle's name to go down in the
PYX Archives as the best of 'em all in 2008-09!!! As for
Linda? Linda will return to Hamilton, a second place town!
