| And
then there were two. Who are they? Here ya
go...
(5) Rachelle Sova @ (1) Brian
Klingenberg
This was a matchup for the ages. Brian has
owned the league this year compiling win after win. Rachelle is
one of the best intellectual pickers in the league. She plays
mind games, after carefully studying her opponents. Rachelle
chose an all out strategy this, placing all of her cards on the
Cards! Knowing that Brian's strength is in the overtime,
Rachelle aggressively picked Arizona to upset Philadelphia.
This propelled her to a huge victory, and is on her way to PYX
Bowl 10. Congratulations Rachelle!
(5) Linda Dalman @ (1) Mike Colliau
This matchup offered a much more
conservative flavor. Both pickers picked the same, and
allocated confidence points the same as well. Mike gave 38
points to the Steelers-Ravens match up, while Linda gave it 37.
An INCREDIBLE job of picking on Linda's part, the final score
being 23-14!!! Ya just can't get any better then that.
Likewise, congratulations Linda on your first PYX Bowl
experience!
Here is YOUR PYX Bowl 10 matchup!
Linda Dalman @ Rachelle
Sova
The heels are on, and the gloves
are off! What's the difference between PYX Bowl 10 and any
other PYX Bowl??? LIPSTICK!!!! That includes you from
last year Haranczak!
Never before has a woman gone to the PYX
Bowl... This year it is woman on woman! Rock on! Let's face it
guys, they're the only two women in all of they PYX, and they're
in the PYX Bowl. This is no longer a male dominated sport.
Steven Nicolet predicted an all Hamilton
PYX Bowl with Linda Dalman taking on Brian Klingenberg. Gary
Bonn picked the opposite, with Rachelle Sova taking on Mike
Colliau. Steven was half wrong in his predictions. Gary was
half right!
Jokes aside, congrats Rachelle and Linda!
Best of luck to both of you in two weeks as you sock it out for
the coveted PYX BOWL!

Twenty.
That's the number of PYX Conference Championships since the
inception of the PYX Bowl in 2000. And if we look back to
the beginning of The PYX in 1995, you can add 4 more champions
to the list of pickers who have played for the league picking
championship. Out of all of these great pickers and
throughout all 13 (going on 14) years of picking, this great
league has never witnessed a female picking champion. And
now we stand on the threshold of crowning a new PYX Bowl
champion; a female picking champion in a once male dominated
league.
My how far we have come. The glass
picking ceiling has not just been broken, but it has been
shattered. Not only has one female picker won her
conference, but two women have won the conference championships
this year. What may be most amazing is the fact that out
of 32 pickers, there are only 2 female pickers in The PYX!
On behalf of The PYX Administration,
Cabinet, Supreme Court, Congress and members at large, I salute
both Rachelle Sova and Linda Dalman.
PICKER PROFILES
Linda Dalman - Linda was the
#1 draft pick of 2005 and
was
the first female picker ever selected as a #1 draft pick.
She was able to finish with a 147-88 (.612) picking percentage
during her rookie season and ended up with a 5-11 record.
Although she missed the play-offs that first season, her picking
percentage was solid for a rookie picker and she came out on
fire in her sophomore season.
In 2006, Linda went 10-6 and won the NPC
North division over Hamilton rival, Brian Klingenberg.
Linda earned the #1 seed in the play-offs and received a first
round bye. Unfortunately she ran into the red hot Brent
van Wieren who went on to win PYX Bowl VIII that year.
With great expectations for Dalman in 2007,
she failed to qualify for the play-offs. One reason may
have been the realignment of the divisions. Linda was
moved from the NPC North to the NPC South. She now had to
battle against Mike Colliau, Kyle Chauv and Steve Harryman.
But strangely her overall picking percentage actually increased!
She picked 163-93 (.637), a career best.
After a few defensive adjustments were made
in the off season, Linda came out on fire during this year.
She got off to that stellar 8-0 start and finished with a career
best 11-5 record. Her picking percentage also increased as
she pulled in a 160-83 (.658)...also a career best. She
seems to keep getting better and the better as the weeks roll
along. She has already defeated the #1 and #2 seeds in the
play-offs, could
the PYX Bowl 10 trophy rest on the Dalman mantle next week?
Linda hails from Hamilton, Michigan.
She is married to Joel and has two children, Lauren and Jason.
Rachelle Sova - After a
solid amateur career, Rachelle
decided
to turn pro in 2005. A first round draft pick and third
pick overall, she amazed everyone with an exceptional rookie picking
season. The "Sovanator" finished in the Top Ten in picking
percentage with a record of 170-86 (.664). This placed her
in the elite "170 Club".
Rachelle finished with an overall record of 9-7, came in 2nd
place in her division and just missed the play-offs by one game.
She was just a few votes shy of winning the "2005 Rookie of the
Year" award.
Rachelle suffered through a "Sophomore
Slump" in 2006 after going 8-8 and completing a 148-108 (.578)
picking percentage. She invested a lot into her offensive
game and came out with a new picking strategy in 2007.
Although her head-to-head record suffered (6-9-1), Sova grabbed
a 165-91 (.645) picking percentage that year and certainly laid
the foundation for this incredible PYX Bowl run this year.
Not being discouraged by the her 3rd place
finished in Gary Bonn dominated APC North, Rachelle stuck to the
same picking offense she installed in 2007. Amazingly she
finished with the exact same picking percentage as the year
before---165-91 (.645)---only this time she added a respectable
10-6 head-to-head record on top of that and qualified for the
play-offs for the very first time. The Crack Macki
has stormed through the play-offs! And now, after finally
defeating rival Gary Bonn, she stands on the brink of making PYX
history.
Rachelle resides in Cedar Springs, Michigan
with her husband Josh. They are expecting a new baby any day...could this be a Super Bowl/PYX Bowl baby? |
