FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: March 31, 2008 THE FINAL NINE The NCAA Tournament Narrows to Final Four Chapel Hill, NC – And then there were four, or should we say nine? All four of the number #1 seeds have made it to the Final Four, but in The PYX, we still have 9 pickers who have a shot at the Championship. This is the first time in basketball history (since the expansion to a 64 team tournament) that all #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. So for those of you who predicted all #1 seeds to this point, we tip our hat to you; that was actually a bold prediction. We feel bad for Kevin Rosenau. He picked Davidson to win it all. Everyone laughed at him. But he was just a few inches away. That three-pointer sailed wide-right. Oh so close. No one will ever forget little Davidson in 2008. But onto our updated TOP TEN standings:
Zeke Chapman holds on to the number #1 spot...but has to share the fame with Rachelle Sova and Don Zysk. It remains a three-way tie. Bryan Bickford sits in 4th place. Malea Nicolet and Thomas Van Dyke tie for 5th. Chris Lewis, Joel Dalman, Nick Foster and Tamara Loan are all tied for 7th place at this time. But with 8 points awarded for a correct pick in Final Four action...and 10 points given for picking the eventual champion, the number of pickers who actually have a chance to win this whole thing has been greatly narrowed. CHAMPIONSHIP SCENARIOS: *If Memphis wins...well..it could either be Don Zysk or Bryan Bickford. Don's ahead by 1 point...but Bryan picks Kansas and Don Picks North Carolina to reach the finals. *If UCLA wins...Rachelle Sova is setting pretty good...however, should Kansas defeat UNC, Tamara Loan would pass Rachelle. *If Kansas wins...Zeke Chapman would be the champion hands down. No other Kansas picker is within striking distance. *If North Carolina wins...Malea and Thomas are both tied with 90 points apiece. It would come down to the tie-breaker between them. But wait...If Memphis should defeat UCLA, we would have to go to a tie-breaker between Joel Dalman and Glen Rozich. There are still 9 pickers remaining in the hunt at this juncture. The other 44 pickers have been mathematically eliminated. For the "Super Nine" remaining pickers...May the PYX be with you!
