FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: March 17, 2008 March Madness Begins The PYX Moves to NCAA Basketball Picking Chapel Hill, NC – The PYX now shifts from Football to Basketball mode. With the unveiling of the brackets on Selection Sunday yesterday, pickers may now enter their picks and compete for the March Madness Championship. Each member of The PYX has received an invitation to register for basketball picks. You have until Thursday morning to fill-in and submit your brackets. This marks the 5th year that The PYX has renewed its partnership with CBS Sportsline for bracket management. The Ft. Lauderdale based internet company, automates the brackets and keeps careful track of the standings. From 1999 to 2003, The PYX manual tabulated basketball picking, which labor intensive. “For the first five years, the brackets were done manually”, said Steven Nicolet, PYX President and acting Basketball Commissioner. “It was a no-brainer to use Sportsline, which saves us a lot of time. Plus, it’s also a free service.” CBS Sportsline offers their service free of charge but each picker must still be registered to play. Once registered, each person receives a username and password to fill out their brackets. There are many perks to playing March Madness this year. CBS Sportsline now offers the service of being able to watch every single game on your computer. You simply use the same username and password word that you use for The PYX. Also, each person who registers may also enter their bracket to win $10,000 in the Bracket Challenge competition.
Pickers can now click on
the “Basketball League” button on the main PYX homepage to enter the
related March Madness site. They may also click on “Schedule” to see a
complete list of all brackets, seeds, times and dates of the tournament.
