PYX REPORT: WEEK 8

Peter Tadros returns!  Yes, I know that Peter is the defending champion of his Division (The NPC East), but after the stunning loss in the first round play-offs last year to Kyle Chauv, I was really concerned if Peter could bounce back.  He's had a bumpy start to the season, but boy did he silence his critics this week.  Tadros is awarded Picker of the Week honors for the very first time this season.  He played an excellent game against Ryan Thome who happened to be the only picker to grab a loner this week (Cleveland over Jacksonville).  Even though Thome posted a very good 10-4 record....Peter rose to the challenge and picked one better at 11-3.  Congratulations, Peter...let's see if you can take this momentum with you down the second half of the season.

There were only two games that went into overtime:

Steven Nicolet over Jay Zink

Brent Van Wieren over Mike Colliau

Once again there were a few pickers who failed to submit picks this week.  Please make sure that you get those picks in.  If there is a problem with the picking form, please let me know.  If you are out of town, on vacation or out in the woods deer hunting, please feel free to call the "PYX Hotline" and just get your picks in verbally.  That number is (919) 962-6815...you can leave a message on the voice mail if I am not there.  This is a 24 hour hotline....call day or night.

Linda Dalman continues with the winning streak.  She is now 7-0...undefeated and the only picker without a loss.  Let me remind Linda that she is still a few wins away from breaking the record for the best start to a season.  That record was set in 2005, when I (Steven Nicolet) got off to an 11-0 start.  Of course I ended that season with a 13-3 record and lost to Gary (eventual PYX Bowl Champion) in my first play-off game.  The question is...Can Linda go 11-0?  Can she break the record and go 12-0?  Better yet...how about that elusive undefeated season like the New England Patriots had last year...16-0.  For the record, 13-3 is the best overall record in PYX history and that was accomplished 3 times (Steven Nicolet-2005, Jeff Nichols-2005 and Jay Zink-2006).

Here are your Division Leaders after 8 weeks:

Kevin Rosenau
Steven Nicolet-
H
Kevin Sandoval
Jeff Nichols
Linda Dalman-
H
Rene Garza-
H
Brian Klingenberg-
H
and
Rachelle Sova
Gary Bonn

Yes, Rachelle and Gary are all tied up again.  I have a feeling that this might not be decided until Week 17.

Do you notice any type of pattern with the division leaders?  Can you say HAMILTON power?  Four out of Eight divisions are lead by the Hamilton Federation and it could be 5 out of 8 if you count that one semester that Jeff logged in at Hamilton in 1982.

The standings are now updated and posted.  You can take a look at the final scores between you and your opponent in the Schedule.  Also, you can click on the NFL link to see the final scores of the games already completed:  NFL .

Thank you, and good luck in Week 9.
