It's All About Linda in Week 9

Linda Dalman is destroying anyone who gets in her way...including her husband!  Joel gave it a could try and actually pulled out a remarkable 10-4 record this week.  But it wasn't enough as Linda went 11-3 and captured her second Picker of the Week award this year.  Congratulations Linda!  Better luck next time Joel.

Linda Dalman continues with the winning streak.  She is now 8-0...undefeated and the only picker without a loss.  Let me remind Linda that she is still a few wins away from breaking the record for the best start to a season.  That record was set in 2005, when I (Steven Nicolet) got off to an 11-0 start.  Of course I ended that season with a 13-3 record and lost to Gary (eventual PYX Bowl Champion) in my first play-off game.  The question is...Can Linda go 11-0?  Can she break the record and go 12-0?  Better yet...how about that elusive undefeated season like the New England Patriots had last year...16-0.  For the record, 13-3 is the best overall record in PYX history and that was accomplished 3 times (Steven Nicolet-2005, Jeff Nichols-2005 and Jay Zink-2006).

There were two games that went into overtime:

Kevin Sandoval over Kurt Hazlewood

Brent Van Wieren over Ryan Thome

After failing to submit picks for a couple of weeks, we were starting to wonder if Hazlewood would even show up for this match-up.  He did more than show up, Kurt took Kevin Sandoval to overtime in a hard fought battle.  A few Washington Redskins miscues cost Kurt the game because of such a low score.  Kevin edged him out by 3 points.

Brent Van Wieren wins his second overtime match-up in two consecutive weeks.  This time he squeaked by Ryan Thome by one single point!  After suffering through a miserable 0-4 start to the season, Brent has now rattled off 4 consecutive wins in a row...quite a comeback for the the PYX Bowl Champion from 2 season ago.

One of the big stories of the week has to be the battle of the winless.  David Seelye took on Steve Harryman.  Both pickers were 0-7...something had to give.  David pulled together one of his best picking performances in quite a long time and pounded Harryman by 3 picks.  David puts one in the win column while Steve goes back to the drawing board trying to figure out how to get a victory.

Once again there were a few pickers who failed to submit picks this week.  Please make sure that you get those picks in.  If there is a problem with the picking form, please let me know.  If you are out of town, on vacation or out in the woods deer hunting, please feel free to call the "PYX Hotline" and just get your picks in verbally.  That number is (919) 962-6815...you can leave a message on the voice mail if I am not there.  This is a 24 hour hotline....call day or night.

Here are your Division Leaders after 9 weeks:

Now if the play-offs were to start today, all of the 8 division leaders would qualify and another 4 wildcard teams.  The pickers who are in wildcard contention are: Al Nowak, Rachelle Sova, Matt Cushman, Mike Colliau and Thomas Van Dyke.  Yes, Mike and Thomas both have identical records (5-3).
