Commissioner Tadros Press Conference,
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
Brighton, Michigan
Happy
Halloween fellow pickers. I am pleased to announce that the
"Pickers of the Week" are: Jeff Nichols, Joe Thome, Todd
Prins and Steven Nicolet.
Each went 9-5 this week, while 10 more pickers went 8-6.
Brent Van Wieren of
HAMILTON is no longer sitting on top after an upset
loss to Kevin Rosenau and Steve Harryman (see below) of the
Metro Brotherhood. There are now 6 pickers with a
league best 5-2 record. The overall best picking
percentage is still held by Brian Klingenberg of
Hamilton (76-38) which is appropriately
on this Halloween Day.
There were two overtime games
again this week. Matt Cushman once again wins by
picking lower points than Al Bonn. Cushman is going
for the record for most WINS in overtime in a single
season. Jeff Nichols put his little brother in his
place by defeating Steven Nicolet in OT. Jeff picked
exactly 38 points for the tie-breaker. Nicolet is also
working on setting the record for most LOSSES in
overtime in a single season.
On a sad note, picker Zander "Z-Dizzle"
Firlik submitted improper picks this week. Her picks
were entered into the PYX web server at 4:35 pm on Sunday
afternoon. At that time 12 out of 14 games had already
kicked off. She went 1-1 in the remaining 2 games.
Which is unfortunate because she probably would have
defeated Brian Klingenberg by one game. I am going to
assign a special task force to look into this situation to
see what may have been distracting Ms. Firlik this week.
Matt Cushman, will please give Firlik a thorough
examination?
In other breaking news...Picker
Steve Harryman of the Metro Brotherhood has made a formal
request to investigate his picks from Week 7. Mr.
Harryman is not contesting his picks (5-8 record) but that
of his opponent's...none other than Brent Van Wieren of
Hamilton.
It appears that the data entered
into the PYX spreadsheet does not match that which was
submitted into the entry file. This is a very
complicated situation but our Information Systems team
worked around the clock and and performed an extensive
investigation.
The
report was on my desk this
morning and I see no need for this case to go before the PYX
Supreme Court. I am ruling in favor of Picker Steve
Harryman. Brent Van Wieren, his opponent merely
obtained a 5-8 record during Week 7. Harryman defeated
Van Wieren in the Monday Night tie-breaker. Harryman
is hereby granted a victory rather than a loss and Van
Wieren is hereby relinquished of his win and given a loss
instead. Furthermore, Van Wieren is stripped of his "Picker
of the Week" honor. The Commissioner Corner
archives have been corrected and the standings for both
Week
7 (in the archives) and
Week
8 have been edited & corrected as well.
On behalf of The PYX
organization, Supreme Court, Congress, Executive Board,
Alumni and the General Assembly, I offer sincere apologies
to all parties involved.
The best way to make sure that
this doesn't happen in the future is to purchase full
automation. But there is a price tag that comes with
this kind of technology. Which leads me to ask for
everyone's help.
As Commissioner, I am asking
every member of this league to make at least one purchase
from the PYX Store. We will need to have a strong 4th quarter or we may be
seeing cut-backs and lay-offs next year.
Please visit the PYX Store
and place an order today:
Thank you and good picking!
Your Commish,
