Commissioner Tadros Press Conference,
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
Brighton, Michigan
N8
Lucas is the Picker of the Week! Nobody deserves this
award more than Nate. Not only only did N8 go 10-3
(picking better than any one else in the league), but he
made his picks under the status of "Polluted Evacuee".
Many of you heard about the chemical explosion that took
place last week in Apex, North Carolina.
Thousands of people in Apex,
North Carolina, were ordered out of their homes on a Friday
after a late-night fire at a hazardous waste plant sent a
toxic cloud over the Raleigh suburb. A series of
explosions at the Environmental Quality Company plant, 10
miles southwest of Raleigh, sent a cloud of dangerous
chlorine gas into the air and around 16,000 people, about
half the town's population, were told to evacuate their
homes. Nate Lucas and his family had to evacuate...but
he STILL was able to pony express his picks into PYX
Headquarters. This could very well be the story of the
year.
In other news around the league,
we saw a few overtime games once again. Jay Zink over
Linda Dalman, Mike Colliau defeats Thomas Van Dyke and Al
Bonn edges out Ryan Thome. This was the first
competitive, higher scoring Monday Night football game all
year.
But the most exciting game of
the week was between arch rivals Al Nowak and Paul Landry.
This game started ugly and ended ugly, as a bench clearing
brawl ensued. Fines and suspensions were handed out as
Paul Landry claimed victory by one point. Landry was
fined for comments he made during the confrontation.
"Now, that's what I'm talking
about," Landry said as the brawl raged out of control. "You
come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You
don't come into Commerce playing that stuff. I say,
why don't Nowak just meet me outside in the tunnel after the
ball game and get it on some more? You don't come into
Commerce, baby," Landry said. "I've had a down couple years
but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in my house."
After 6 weeks of picking, let's
analyze the standings:

Once again, there are only 5 pickers
who are in the Top 10 of both categories and they are: Paul
Landry, Brent Van Wieren, Don Zysk, Kurt Hazlewood and
Rachelle Sova. Jeff Nichols and the The Alternative
Picking Task Force has devised a new system. This new
football system is called the BCS Poll. The BCS is a
complex formula that gives
equal weight to both head-to-head
record and overall picking percentage. This will be
discussed further and may be put to a vote after the
conclusion of the season.
