Commissioner Tadros Press Conference,
Wentworth Mansion, Historic Downtown
Charleston, South Carolina
The
Co-Picker of the Week is a LOSER! That's right, Steven
Nicolet is a Co-Picker of the Week for going UNDEFEATED
(14-0) and LOSING! That's because the other Picker of
the Week is Mr. Al Bonn. Al and Steven both had
identical picks and went 14-0....a perfect record. In
the 12 years of The PYX, an undefeated week of picking only
happened one other time
(Steven Nicolet: Week 9 -
11/07/2005).
And now lightning strikes
twice in the same week. Bonn did a little more
research and a picked lower
point total
on the Monday night game to defeat Nicolet in the overtime
tie-breaker. It sucks to be Nicolet. Although,
if you're going to lose, you may as well go undefeated in
the process.
It was a VERY good week of
picking for everyone. Two pickers went undefeated
(14-0) and another seven went 13-1. And an
unbelievable 13 more pickers went 12-2. Overall, this
was the single greatest league-wide picking week in PYX
history. We may never see a week of picking like this
for years to come.
Besides Al and Steven's overtime
game, there were three others to take note of. Kevin
Sandoval edges out Don Zysk, Kurt Hazlewood defeats Kyle
Chauv and Joe Thome squeaks past yours truly, Peter Tadros.
Each tie-breaker goes to the Picker who took the lowest
score. A strange pattern of low scoring Monday Night
football games has been occurring which is another NFL
record as well.
After 5 weeks of picking, let's
take a closer look at the standings:

There are only 5 pickers
who are in the Top 10 of both categories and they are: Paul
Landry, Brent Van Wieren, Rene Garza, Kurt Hazlewood and Don
Zysk. This is something to think about as we conduct research on
alternative picking formats.
I am going to combine two task
forces. Jeff Nichols (Chair of the Alternative Picking
Task Force) and Gary Bonn (Chair of the League Expansion
Task Force) will team up to find a solution. We
must create a picking formula that combines the head-to-head
format with accurate, high percentage picking. As a
league, we must find a way to have "equitable picking" for
all.
We are also conducting a study of all other Picking Leagues.
We are carefully measuring each website and judging their
professionalism, pricing, graphics,
navigation, and features. All of these categories will
be given a certain score. Our goal is to show our
members of the PYX where we rank on a national level.
We believe that we are the #1 picking league in the nation
and we will prove it.
I would also like to ask every
picker to show their commitment
and make a purchase from the PYX Store. The only way
that the PYX can continue to grow and be better, is for you
to do your part.
Please visit the PYX Store
and place an order today:

Thank you and good picking!
Your Commish,
