And
then there were two. Ladies
and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that the
participants in PYX Bowl VIII, are Brent Van Wieren and Matt
Cushman.
Matt Cushman pulled out another
miraculous upset! He defeats the powerful Jay Zink in
straight up picks. Jay went for New Orleans while Matt
stuck with the home team, Chicago. It paid off.
Now Cushman goes into uncharted
territory...the PYX Bowl!!
Brent Van Wieren ended Al
Nowak's greatest season. Just like Cushman, Brent went
for the Bears over the Saints. Al took the gamble and
put everything on the Saints.
So Van Wieren makes his way into
his third PYX Bowl.
RECAP
Matt Cushman defeats Jay Zink,
2 to 1
Brent Van Wieren defeats
Al Nowak,
2 to 1
Both away teams were victorious
and so here is PYX Bowl VIII:
MATT CUSHMAN
vs. BRENT VAN WIEREN
This is the battle between the
expansion team and last year's PYX Bowl runner-up. You
could almost call it David versus Goliath.
Brent has never played Matt
head-to-head...so there is no historical data to go by.
What we do know is that a Hamiltonian is playing in the PYX
Bowl for the 6th time out of 8 years. 4 out of the
past 7 seasons has seen a Hamiltonian win the PYX Bowl, will
Brent add a 5th trophy to the trophy case?
And then there is the improbable
Cushman story. He had to lobby and campaign just to be
re-admitted to the league. He narrowly was permitted
admission after a vote by the PYX Supreme Court. He
goes and wins his division (a division of previous PYX
Champions), he pulls an upset of Thomas Van Dyke, pulls
another upset of defending PYX Bowl Champion Gay Bonn, and
in the biggest upset of the year, he defeats #1 seed Jay
Zink who had the best record in the league.
Bring on the PYX Bowl!!!
