league and number #1 seed is: Jay Zink.
The 2007 Play-Offs
APC
1. Jay Zink
2. Gary Bonn
3. Jeff Nichols
4. Matt Cushman
5. Thomas Van Dyke
6. Don Zysk
NPC
1. Linda Dalman
2. Paul Landry
3. Al Nowak
4. Brent Van Wieren
5. Ryan Thome
6. Brian Klingenberg
Incredible things took place on
that final week of the regular season. Ryan Thome may
have captured the picking percentage title (by one game over
Klingenberg), but he failed to secure the division title as
Al Nowak slipped past him in the NPC East. It came
down to a tie-breaker where Nowak was 2-0 against
Thome in head-to-head competition.
Linda Dalman is the feel-good
story of the year. In only her sophomore season, she
takes the pole position in the NPC. She wins the round
robin tie-breaker over Landry and Nowak.
There wasn't a whole lot of
drama surrounding Jay Zink who has the best record in the
entire league. He has lead from day 1 and never looked
back. He may be the odds on favorite to win the PYX
Bowl this year. Of course defending PYX Bowl Champion,
Gay Bonn might have something to say about that. Gary
started out slow this year, but peaked at just the right
time as he pulled away from Zysk and Van Dyke. Gary is
#2 seed in the APC and is looking to join an elite club if
he wins back-to-back PYX Bowls.
Matt Cushman and Al Bonn are
both expansion teams this year (although they have been PYX
members in the past). The past 4 or 5 weeks they have
been going at it tooth & nail. But it was Cushman who
hangs on to win his first Division title.
Don Zysk qualified for the
Play-Offs by way of tie-breaker over Kurt Hazlewood.
While Jeff Nichols took home another Division title and is
the lone representative of the Metro-Brotherhood in this
year's play-offs.
Maybe the most dramatic finish
was in the NPC West. Brent Van Wieren (the defending
conference champion) was the early leader...but then
suddenly Zander Firlik came on strong. She was in
first place heading into the final week. Brent won his
final game and ended up 9-7. Zander could have easily
won her game and the Division title, but...
But...she submitted her picks after the 1:00 pm games
started. She would have gone 11-5 but instead had to
settle for 5-11 for the week. That cost her dearly as
Van Wieren backs his way into the Play-Offs for an amazing 8
times in 9 seasons!
Jay Zink, Linda Dalman, Gary
Bonn and Paul Landry all get to rest up this week and watch
everyone else beat up on each other as they have earned a
Play-Off bye.
Let the games begin!!!
