PLAY-OFF UPDATE
All of
the members of the national Picking League cast votes this past
week. The issue that was on the ballot concerned the
Play-Offs. There was Proposal "A", (which kept things the
way they were last year) and this proposal was supported by Jon
Schulz. Proposal "B" (let everyone continue picking
throughout the playoffs, but kept adding on to the regular season totals)
was conceived by Jay Zink and Nelson Aquino drafted Proposal "C"
(which let everyone continue picking, but was formatted into an
elimination tournament).
As the
Federal Picking Accounting Office starting counting the ballots, something
strange happened! An official announcement came down from the
Picking Supreme Court that ordered the counting to be stopped
immediately. The actual order stated:
"We
cannot change the rules in midseason. Each citizen of the PICKS
signed up at the beginning of the year agreeing to the 'rules'.
These rules stated that the top 16 shall qualify for the play-offs.
This discussion can be taken up during the off season, but not at this
time."
But what
about the votes? When asked if we can finish counting the ballots,
the court simply said that there was not enough time. Commissioner Landry
said, "We must now move on and put our differences aside and get on
with the work of the PICKS."
So now
we go on...without ever knowing what the will of the Pickers actually was.
