George W. Bush:  His Campaign Promises ---- Let's wait and see how many he fulfills.

DEFENSE
Bush plans to spend 45 Billion dollars on National defense while Gore plans to spend 100 Billion in the same time frame.

EDUCATION
Can you really say the word education and Bush in the same sentence? Who do you think 90% of all teachers are voting for next week? Why is Texas nearly last in all measured student testing? Hey Bush, what's your plan on Education? "...well, we need accountability. We need local control. we need good values. we need to teach morals....yada yada yada. these are all big words Georgie.  Bush has no plan! Gore plans to create 100,000 new teaching jobs...Gore plans to budget money for teacher pay raises...Gore plans to test both the students and the teachers. Yes, Gore has a specific plan and Bush just talks.

VOUCHERS
Yes, Bush is for them and Gore is against them.  Listen, vouchers are a certificate worth $1500 per semester per student. They are only valid from people who live in a school district whose graduation percentage is below 65%. Now the majority of the students who are eligible for the voucher are inner city kids. They can redeem this voucher only if they go to school in a different district that has a higher graduation percentage. What does this mean? It means that a poor kid can use their voucher to go to another school across town...but how do they get there? There is no busing service for them. And if they wanted to use the voucher for a private school, the money in only a fraction of the cost. So in other words, the poor kids who would need the vouchers the most, cannot even use them. So the only kids that will use these vouchers will be middle class kids (not the poor needy kids). These middle class kids could be able to escape an inner city school to go to a private school....but what happens then? What if you take all of the good kids out of a school district? What happens to the remaining school? Does this really improve the schools? So why are people supporting the voucher system? Here's one more interesting tidbit: All of the kids who are currently enrolled in a private school, but live in public school district that is voucher eligible, can fill out the voucher form and let their wealthy private school receive the money. Do you understand?! This is a sneaky way for the private schools to receive tax payer money. This is loop-hole around the constitution which separates state and religion. This is starting to come out now....and mark my words---there is no way that Proposal 1 will pass. It's just as ridiculous as George W. What an idiot; he probably never even read the proposal.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
Here, let me give you verbatim, what the candidates said during a recent debate:

Jim Lehrer: Governor, what is your--are you opposed to Affirmative Action?

BUSH: No. If affirmative action means quotas, I'm against it. If affirmative action means what I just described, what I'm for, then I'm for it.

GORE: He said if affirmative action means quotas, he's against it. Affirmative Action doesn't mean quotas.

BUSH: Good.

GORE: Are you for it without quotas?

BUSH: I may not be for your version, Mr. Vice President.

GORE: Are you for what the Supreme Court says is a constitutional way of having affirmative action?

BUSH: Jim....?

That's right...Bush looked at Jim (the Moderator) and asked for help in a cowardly way. He was squirming like no other presidential debater ever has before. It was pitiful. And what's the bottom line? Bush and Jeff Nichols obviously never read the US Supreme Court ruling on Affirmative Action. Why? Because they both mention the word quotas which has nothing to do with Affirmative Action. Good Grief....Bush is against it and the majority of the country is for it. Why don't you just get a grasp on the issue and admit it.

CIVIL RIGHTS
When I say civil rights, I am talking about discrimination. Do you remember the confederate flag flying above the state capital in South Carolina? Guess what? It's gone! It was a racist symbol. It represented a myriad of negative ideas. The people of South Carolina took it down. But what did George Bush say? He said that it should stay up! When asked if he was offended by the sight or had any reaction to that flag, he said, "No. Not in South Carolina I don't." In a candid admission of his own lack of ability and experience, Bush is forever assuring us that he'll have good people around him (as if a competent, intelligent, experienced leader would not?).

Here's an example to contemplate: When in Texas, Bush appointed someone to be in charge of training of all of the state's law enforcement personnel. This man who appointed was Charles W. Williams. A year before Bush appointed this man to this high position, Williams made a statement in court, under oath that the terms "porch monkey" and "black bastard" were not racial slurs. he also made a statement about the N-word: "I was born and raised with blacks. And back then we had Nigger-Charlie and Nigger-Sam, Nigger-Joe, and we regarded those people with all the respect in the world. That was their name," said Williams. "They didn't mind. It wasn't any big deal then", he added. "Nigger graduated to Negro, then it graduated to black, and now it's African-American. So to me that [nigger] was not any different than me calling him an African-American today." What an idiot! The term "nigger" was never a term of respect! DUH!! And Bush appointed this guy to a position of authority...This is very baffling. Kinda makes you nervous about Bush making lifetime appointments, doesn't it?

BUSH'S BIGGEST ALLIES
In order, here are the five biggest contributors to the Bush campaign: 1. Standard Oil 2. NRA 3. Rich DeVos 4. Phillip Morris 5. AT&T

Let's see....big tobacco, guns, oil tycoons and our good buddies over at the legalized pyramid scam called AmWay! Hey that's just great...bravo. You have to proud of that one. Gore top five supporters in order were 5 separate worker unions (period). next issue.....

NRA
Who really respects this group? This is an underhanded group. This is a dangerous group. Do you realize who the members are? They are 99.9% white males....they don't represent the country. The promote hatred and violence. Charleton Heston said at a recent rally, "THIS IS WAR!"....and all of those in attendance raised their guns in the air. We know who these people are. It's groups like the Michigan Militia...people like Timothy McVey...and Terry Nichols (any relation there, Jeff?)

WOMEN's RIGHT TO CHOOSE
Yes, Bush is against this and Gore is for it. You can talk all you want about partial birth abortions, but let's look at the big picture. Bush is against Roe v. Wade and Gore is for it....period. The majority of the country supports Roe v. Wade...and that percentage is growing every year.  Roe Vs Wade states that an abortion is legal during the 1st trimester of pregnancy.  Partial birth abortions are not legal according to Roe vs. Wade.  The democratic stance is that of the constitution.

SOCIAL SECURITY
Reporters asked Bush if Senior Citizens would be better off under his plan. And they asked him if his new plan would be more secure than the old plan. Here is that famous quote in response from George W. Bush: "Maybe, Maybe not." WHAT?! Are you kidding?! Is this the plan you want?! If you don't have a better response than that...go back to the drawing board and come up with something better.

BOTTOM LINE
Bush is all talk. He says things like, "We need to come together" "People need to work together" "I want to trust the people" "Government needs to do less...let the people run things" or "we need to all give each other a big hug and work out our problems" Yeah...yeah...that all sounds warm and fuzzy, but we need someone with a plan, not a philosophy! Philosophy never solved any problems...it's action on specifics that will get things dome. Why is it that Gore has a clear plan on every issue. He has documented plans that he wants to implement. Bush doesn't have a plan at all, just a lot of words. He is the typical con man. How can he have a plan when he himself was quoted as saying that he has never even read the Republican Political Platform!! And you want to trust this low-life, lazy, spoiled rich kid to the highest office in the United States????

Well....this is what you voted for. It wouldn't surprise me if this idiot gets us into a war and crashes the economy!! Good luck to all of the fools who voted for George Bush!

The PICKS POETRY CORNER

The election is over, the results are known,
the will of the people has clearly been shown.

Let's forget the quarrels and show by our deeds,
we will give our new leader all the help that he needs.

So let's all pull together, and let bitterness pass,
I'll hug your elephant and you kiss my ass.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Get a life!! Like a president really makes that much difference. Tell me one thing: What particular policy of the Clinton Administration contributed to low unemployment, low inflation, and other general economy measures. What? can't name any? It's about time everybody realizes that the economy goes up and down in cycles and always will. Bud Greenspan has a lot more to do with the economy that any presidential administration. Now that there are signs that the economy is starting to slow down, who are we going to blame for that? Clinton is still president, so is he responsible?

In the news >> President Clinton is declaring nearly a third of the country's federal forest land off limits to most logging, but some Republicans already are urging incoming President-elect Bush to scuttle the plan<<

Nearly a year ago, Clinton made a promise to the American people, after overwhelming support, to make sure nothing would happen to our Federal forest land. Alot of which resides in our National Park system. Now he's honoring this promise. Now this is just one third of "our" Federal forest... Why would the Republicans fight to have the right to destroy our Most beautiful and nonfundable resource? Why....I hope it's not becuase they don't get money from Logging and Oil companies who want the land to destroy...
